Beauty Secrets - Fish Maw
I know it feels good to spend a lot of money on fancy skin care products, and it feels trendy to try different brands and believe in the marketing gimmicks. I was a culprit of this once before. After trying so much commercial products for my skin, I thought it was time to think about my body as a whole - do more for our skin, for our body.
Fish maw is known to provide collagen when we eat it, but what does this mean?
To me, it means skin elasticity - and not only working on the face, not just the hands (the areas you would typically apply your decently priced skincare), but we are also talking about how to get a wholistic effect on the entire body. After regular consumption of fish maw (and the easiest way is to include a few pieces of fish maw steak in your regular soup base), you can see the rewards you will reap. You can tell when one takes care of their skin, and internal body through the positive effect fish maw has on your body through consumption. Let’s say, scarred tissue, torn ligaments, just to name a few of those ‘internal problems’ which we may have all encountered and may think we do not have a faster way of natural healing. Fish maw heals.
In 2017, I had torn my a few ligaments on my right foot, I visited an orthopaedic surgeon to ask for advice. I never am a big fan of surgery and if there was any excuse at all for me to avoid it, I would. I chose to avoid surgery. An experienced specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology had told me a story of his patient with complete torn shoulder ligaments also deciding not to go through surgery, and a year later, the ligaments healed itself. When the specialist doctor had asked the patient how can this be possible, the patient simply replied that he consumed fish maw regularly. I could not believe this, but it gave me some reason or ‘excuse’ to try this natural healing process. It is a win-win situation for me - I get to consume delicious food while it works on healing my entire body.
Tonight, I made a chicken herbal soup and added 3 fish maw steaks to the soup base. The soup tastes great, and not to mention I get to eat the fish maw too (by the way, good fish maw do not melt easily but make sure it is not overcooked, it just needs to be placed in the soup base for 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish maw).
